of fire and ice

Driving on an endless bumpy gravel road with no traffic, people or any signs of civilization, is one of the best feelings I have ever experienced. It’s this lack of everything that usually surrounds us and pure nature that gives me a deep and calm feeling. Those moments, in the middle of nowhere, make me feel like I am right where I'm supposed to be.

If you’re willing to go just a bit further than the usual tourist in Iceland, you’ll get to the most amazing places. You’ll find yourself crossing ice cold rivers barefoot to find remote natural hot pots and warm waterfalls. You will take dead end roads just to see what’s awaiting you at the end. And you will photograph in the cold pouring rain just to get the perfect shot of floating ice.

of bears and woods

All you need is love? No, all you need is a car, a box of food and most importantly a camera. At least that’s all I needed (plus a huge suitcase filled with stuff) when I was exploring the amazing Canadian west coast and Rocky Mountains all by myself.

There is just something special about the Canadian wilderness. The deep woods, blue lakes and endless mountains just seem so wild and untamable. And never knowing if you might get eaten by a bear adds an extra kick to your adventure.

of tides and the ocean

I’ve never seen a foggy beach before. I knew the ocean was near because I could hear its crushing waves but I did not see it until I felt the cold water under my feet. I’ve spent hours on that beach just chasing surfers through my camera lens, disappearing into the nowhere. One of them was Benjamin, a surfer traveling along the west coast of Vancouver Island. He explained to me that even if you can’t see the shore out in the ocean, you’ll always find your way back. What an amazing experience that must be.
